  1. I recently read an article about how de-industrialization is impacting the growing income inequality in the United States and is the reason for displacing the jobs of workers in advanced economies. De-industrialization has negatively impacted cities in the north east whose economic markets were based on industrial companies. As the United States becomes a "post industrial" nation, the middle-class and their cities are disappearing.

  2. Utica is a poster child of de-industrialization. High paying manufacturing jobs at GE have been replaced by lower paying service and distribution jobs. Turning Stone Casino is the largest employer in Oneida County.
