It seems that US preeminence throughout recent history has lulled the American people and government officials into a false and utopian sense of liberalism as a global unifier and method of universal security. As for Afghanistan, our original mission to oust the Taliban, which had allowed Al Queda to operate freely within Afghanistan’s borders, seems to have been somewhat successful. But now, our involvement seems to be more of an aimless hunt for terrorists Prior to switching our full attention to Afghanistan, let us makes sure that our goals for the country are attainable, and avoid attempts to reconstruct the country similarly to how we unsuccessfully tried to transform Iraq.
