I just saw the new movie "Fair Game" based on the true story about CIA officer Valerie Plame and her investigation into the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The movie portrays the ability of the federal government to mobilize the nation for war upon questionable claims of nuclear weapons. It also depicts the magnitude of manipulation the White House is capable of. The rise of the nuclear weapon has created a federal government that has few limitations. The threat of nuclear warfare demands immediate reactive decisions and therefore shifts a tremendous amount of power to the executive branch. The movie reflects this shift and indicates the federal governments ability to do virtually anything.
