Elizabeth Edwards Dies at 61
Today, Elizabeth Edwards lost her battle with cancer. After John Edwards was caught cheating on his sickly wife, a lot of support went out to Elizabeth Edwards. She leaves behind two children.

Elizabeth Edwards’s tragic death comes after several years of public marital controversy. Her estranged husband, John, made the despicable choice of cheating on his terminally ill wife. Adultery is unacceptable under all circumstances, but I believe that public figures should be held to a higher standard. Politicians in the national limelight such as John Edwards should strive to set a positive example for society and conduct themselves respectfully. Many Americans judge politicians partly by their moral standards. When elected officials betray their loved ones, they are indirectly betraying the trust of their constituents. Representatives entrusted with the will of the people should be responsible enough to manage their own affairs honestly. John Edwards failed to live up to these ideals.
