First-term Ohio Democrat struggles to keep seat
It seems that a lot of people in this district are concerned about the future and the "big picture" since we are in tough economic times. Especially in Ohio, the Republicans are optimistic that they can win a few seats because the Ohio economy has suffered under the Obama presidency. The unemployment in Ohio is above the national average, and a good number of the citizens have lost faith in the Democrats' efforts to revive the regional economy. One Democrat in the article has admitted that she doesn't know politically who is right and who is wrong anymore, but that she doesn't want to see her business continue to struggle because the economic policies aren't sufficient enough.
The Meaning of the Tea Party Movement

Tea Party Promise and Problems
In my opinion, the entire article focused not on what the Tea Party is offering as the mid term election draws near, but on how they will effect the democratic and republican races to senate and house seats. The article seems to have a democratic, if not at the very least anti-tea party slant on it. One paragraph discusses how the democrats hope to gain from the Tea Party movement even though the "economy is still working against" them. Many people would argue that the democratic party is in part responsible for the downturn of the economy not that the economy has it out for democrats.
In general Tea Party candidates mentioned in this article are presented as unelectable, incompetent, and ignorant extremists. In the first paragraph Christine O’Donnell of Delaware is said to have many financial problems "including unpaid taxes and a home in foreclosure." Later on in the article she is cast away from the republican party because they believe she lied and manipulated voters. The article also cites what tactics both republican and democratic parties are doing to lesson the effects and energy of the Tea Party on the upcoming elections by discussing some of the more extreme policies they support. No where in the article are the actual goals of the Tea Party described, according to members of the party, which presents them in an uneven light.

Democrats Plan Political Triage to Retain House
As this year's midterm elections approach, the big question is whether or not Republic candidates will win an advantage in Congress. It seems like the United States has fallen into a state of perpetual displeasure with our legislature, with party control oscillating every few years. It is extremely discouraging to see such severe partisan attitudes throughout American politics, because it truly inhibits legislative progress. Although it is far easier said than done, our politicians must find a way to compromise for the benefit of the country as a whole, rather than being strictly concerned about gaining control along party lines.
Health Care Reform
I thought this article practical in illustrating how the intricate construction of our government applies in modern day issues such as health care. Is the process by which the house, the senate, and the president working as partitioned authorities the most effective way of bringing about Obamas vision for health care?

California Senate Debate Turns on Economy
I picked this article because I felt like it touched on a lot of the topics/issues we talked about last class. It gives a modern perspective to what we're studying if you will.

Combat Ends In Iraq, but "new dawn" for State Department
Yesterday at 5:00 PM EST, the United States officially ended its combat mission in Iraq. But many new questions arise as the Department of State begins to take control of the situation in Iraq, in particular budget cuts in the department. Lawmakers have slashed budget intended for building a stronger democracy in Iraq.

Is the Tea Party Ready For Its November Close-Up?
Today, when individuals look at the American political party system, their scope is limited to a two party system that consists of Republicans and Democrats. However, throughout American history the political party system has encountered numerous political parties with varying political views. Although The Tea Party movement is not an organized political party it is is an example of a movement that has formed in response to today's current administration. It is important to recognize the tea party's political influence on the upcoming elections and remember that third party politics have always had their place in the American election process.
