Is the Tea Party Ready For Its November Close-Up?

Today, when individuals look at the American political party system, their scope is limited to a two party system that consists of Republicans and Democrats. However, throughout American history the political party system has encountered numerous political parties with varying political views. Although The Tea Party movement is not an organized political party it is is an example of a movement that has formed in response to today's current administration. It is important to recognize the tea party's political influence on the upcoming elections and remember that third party politics have always had their place in the American election process.

As the Tea Party movement continues to gain momentum it will become increasingly important for them to reinforce political agendas that are supported by both the traditional conservatives and the more socially liberal libertarians. Therefore keep the focus on the shared support of reduced taxes, energy policies, repeal of health care legislation, and more emphasis on "constitutionality" of laws. If they begin to deviate much from these agendas the Tea Party movement will become too divided on the smaller issues. In my opinion the Tea party will never be able to emerge as a third party however perhaps the slightly more realistic battle will be between the Republican Party and the Tea Party. The Tea Party's best bet is to overthrow the moderates and bring the Tea Party philosophy in to rule the Republican Party. So I guess the questions is...does the Tea Party have a chance at becoming the new GOP?
