Response to Steve Hayward Lecture

While I found some of his statistics encouraging and refreshingly optimistic, Mr. Hayward's inability to effectively answer questions or clearly defend many of his arguments was concerning. It seemed as though he skirted around some issues and when given opportunities to defend his "green conservative" stance he went off on irrelevant tangents. I began wondering whether this idea of green conservatism is simply a way for conservatives to appeal more to the left while still maintaining party objectives.

I agree. Hayward was quick to critisize traditional liberal environmentalists but had no valid answers to todays environmental crisises. He stressed how hard it is to maintain "sustainability" but didn't offer other alternatives to help our environment. He simply listed off statistics that defended his side of the climate control issue and was unable to adequetly answer questions. However, I did agree with his point about supporting environmentalism on a local level not just on a national level involving the UN.
