At first glance, I really liked the idea of having a third party (for independents, not tea party members). However, when I thought about it more, I started to think it could actually cause more problems. It's close to impossible to have a political candidate who you agree with on every single issue. Even if a third party is created and politicians begin to affiliate themselves with this new party, there are still going to be unsatisfied people. If a third party is created for the independents or for the tea party members, there is still going to be disagreement between parties, but instead of having two parties butting heads, there will be three. And, if a third party is created for the tea party, that will cause dissatisfaction among opponents of the tea party. While it may be a good idea to think about for the future, now may not be the best time to introduce a new party.
